ABOUT US
Plymouth Chambers was founded in 2018 by Jared Ormsby who was joined by Stephanie Grieve and Tania Reid. Shortly afterwards Ann Skelton joined the Chambers. They were followed by The Honourable Nicholas Davidson QC as an Associate Member of the Chambers after his retirement from the High Court bench. It was established as a specialist Chambers to offer services in the areas of civil, public, tax, and alternative dispute resolution. Some of our barristers also offer services in regulatory and criminal work before the Courts and Tribunals.
Members of the Chambers are committed to the principles of access to justice, the rule of law, and the independence of the bar. They are committed to being members of a thriving legal community. This includes commitment to having a safe, just, inclusive, healthy, and supportive profession. They recognise the foundational nature of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the importance of tikanga Maori to the New Zealand legal system. Its members are all experts in their fields and are highly regarded in the profession. All barristers have significant records of achievement.
Certain work undertaken within the Chambers such as mediation, arbitration, employment, or certain tax work may not require an instructing solicitor and enquiries should be made of the relevant barrister. In most other circumstances, barristers must be instructed by solicitors.
